Steven Meyer History As A Guitarist Originally from Milwaukee, WI, Steven is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Prior to the university, Steven began performing professionally at many establishments in Honolulu, Hawaii, while stationed in the military. It was during the time in Hawaii that Steven became acquainted with Slack Key guitar and the possibilities of open tuning and fingerstyle guitar. Back in Milwaukee, Steven began the process of exploring many styles of guitar, including classical, jazz, rock, and was lead guitar player and lead vocalist for the rock trio, D’Kota. Steven continued to nurture a deep interest in solo guitar, and performed solo guitar at many upscale dining establishments, including Mr. Bear’s and Jordy’s in Milwaukee. Steven moved to Madison, WI and had extended solo engagements at Alioto’s and Fyfe’s Corner Bistro, in Madison, WI and Firehouse On The River in Sauk Prairie, WI. |

In September of 2001 Steven began an extended engagement at Restaurant Magnus in Madison, WI, and welcomes you to enjoy and celebrate music performed on solo guitar. Steven performs every Sunday evening from 7-9pm. Steven is available to perform at corporate functions, wine tasting events, and wedding ceremonies. |

| Steven’s guitar style is the culmination of many influences, including jazz artists Ralph Towner, Pat Metheny, Joe Pass, Keith Jarrett, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock; rock legends Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, The Beatles, Mike Oldfield; Guitarists Earl Klugh, Charlie Byrd and Chet Atkins, Classical guitar composers H. Villa Lobos, Leo Brouer, Flamenco/Latin music and Celtic music. Steven’s repertoire also includes the best of Broadway and contemporary standards. Steven is also a pianist, and the discovery of jazz on the piano greatly influences his approach to solo fingerstyle guitar. | |||
